What is Our Long-Term Funding Plan?

INDIVIDUALS, CHURCHES, FOUNDATIONS, & CONSULTING

Sonrise Center for Buddhist Studies, Inc. began in 1988 and has developed an extensive donor base that has helped maintain it present level of operation. It's special projects have been funded through the grants of individuals and organizations. Because of the increased volume of requests for information and training, the Executive Director will focus the majority of his time upon fundraising through the writing of proposals, speaking, and recruiting of team members.

SCBS will prepare and submit one proposal a month to secure future funding for its operations and special projects. We also feel it is critical that the constituency it serves should also participate in the funding of its ongoing operations through subscription fees and annual dues.

For SCBS to be able to accomplish its mission we are working on constructing a sound long-term fundraising plan. Our developmental posture encouraged further staff training in 1998 at Bressee Institute which offered a course in "Organizational and Ministry Development" in association with Fuller School of Intercultural Studies. In 1999, we continued our staff development with training under Dr. Neil Johnson in Small Business Start-Up and Survey Research Design with Dr. Viggo Søgaard both at Fuller. In 2005, we engaged in a special course on Interactive Media Design at Pasadena City College to keep on top of current media tools and trends.

Our plan consists of seeking financial support from individuals, churches, parachurches, businesses and foundations through personal contact, the Internet, oral and written communications. In addition, SCBS is given financial support through our consulting services, free-will offerings taken at seminars and honoraria for other speaking engagements.
