This summer we had three opportunities on the radio. Kim
Dang and I had to field some very hostile Buddhist callers on his
Christian program in Little Saigon. How would you answer the
accusation, "You've sinned against the Buddha by becoming a
Christian?" They didn't like my answer from the Ten
Commandments. Kim was threatened on the air and reminded the caller
that this is a free democracy. The next day, Kim was offered
protection from the local police department. The upside is the radio
station owner, a Buddhist himself, wanted to have me back and talk
with us more and offered to give Kim more free air time. Evidently,
controversy is good for business.
The second show with Jane Chastain was thought provoking as the
interview covered the Christian response to the Free Tibet movement
and China's Most Favored Nation Trading status. Tim and Al's Show
out of St. Louis, Missouri probed the events that occurred at the
Smithsonian. One of the listeners happened to have a brother who is
into Buddhism and is opening a religious goods store in the Midwest.
He was encouraged by my testimony to continue to pray for his
brother.
